Russia has not signed a contract with Egypt on supplies of the S-300 surface-to-air missile systems, the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation said in a report placed on the website on Friday.

"Russia's Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation does not confirm several Russian and foreign media reports on signing the contract on supplies of S-300BM air defence missile systems," the report said.

Earlier, media reports said Russia had agreed with Egypt on supplies of the S-300 missile systems at the total amount of $500 million. Initially the missile systems were scheduled to be supplied to Syria.
